Test and Tune ... Thurs. June 9 No real changes were made to the cars. Matt got a new micro switch and Epic 3000 cells, funded by Jacob, but bested a 2.75. The batteries are being "broke in" still. Jacob switched out to a receiver pack roughly half the size and weight of the one from last week. His 1/2 sub c's are still on order. Nick turned times like a bracket car with the electric Pro Stock Truck running 2.48 and two 2.50's in a row. His nitro Pro Stock ran a 3/4 track pass and coasted to a 2.78. Things took a nasty turn when the car veered off the track, cartwheeling three feet in the air and tumbled another ten, causing the aluminum axle to bend. Jacob came right out of the box and went an unheard of 2.31, much to the disbelief of both Jacob and Nick. Jacob made two more runs, 2.39 and 2.34 (new track record). Matt's truck is still in the making. It made three passes (in order) 3.09, 2.75, and 2.89. Test and Tune ... Wed. June 1 With the first test and tune, personal bests and records were broken. Nick's .12 nitro Pro Stock Walbern made its NOD debut as well, turning a few unofficial 2.5 passes. It was mostly just trying to get it tuned. Nick made the first ever sub-2.5 run at NOD at 2.47, and immediately backed it up with a 2.50. Nick's 7 cell 10 turn pro stocker flies. Jacob ran two 2.50's in a row, but was really wanted to run a 2.4x. After a gear change for a more aggressive launch, the car threw itself to the right, but after an awesome display of driving, Jacob wrestled the car to a record 2.43. He immediately backed it up with a tire spinning 2.46. Jacob was running six 1.17v SMC cells and a 7 turn trinity D5 motor on his funny car chassis. Matt's setup contines to get faster. On two-year-old batteries, he runs a personal best of 2.97 with 13 turns and 6 cells with an esc on a pro stock chassis. There are still tweaks to be made to the chassis.
